Animal Control

The City of Vidalia Animal Control works to ensure the safety and well-being of both residents and animals within the city limits. Our mission is to promote responsible pet ownership, enforce local animal ordinances, and protect the community from dangerous or stray animals.

Animal Control is responsible for responding to reports of stray, lost, injured, or aggressive animals; enforcing leash laws; and addressing complaints of animal cruelty or neglect. We also assist with lost and found pets and can help guide you through the process of reclaiming or adopting animals.

Services Include:
– Capturing and impounding stray or nuisance animals
– Investigating reports of animal cruelty, abuse, or neglect
– Enforcing licensing, vaccination, and leash laws
– Removing deceased animals from public property
– Educating the public on responsible pet ownership

Important Reminders:
All dogs must be kept on a leash when off their owner’s property.
Pets must be vaccinated against rabies and registered according to city ordinance.
Residents are encouraged to report any aggressive or stray animals immediately.

If you need to report an animal-related concern or require assistance, please contact City Hall at 912-537-7661. For animal emergencies after hours, call the non-emergency police dispatch line at 912-537-4123.

The City of Vidalia is proud to serve its residents with dedication, transparency, and Southern hospitality. We're here to help you live, work, and thrive in the Sweet Onion City.
